March 26th 2008: Kostitsyn Brothers

Aside from Carey Price....these two are the future of our team. I can't get over how great they've been so far this season and it's their first time playing together in the big league. I can't even IMAGINE what's going to happen in the next few years with these two.

PLAYOFFS ARE OFFICIALLY CLINCHED. Oh it just feels so good. This time last year every single game had to be won or else we were out..now we can enjoy these last 5 games, knowing that we have our place in the playoffs. Best part? Almost every sports analyst has us written out of the playoffs in the East and we end up clinching a spot first. I LOVE MY TEAM.

So Stew & I went to the game yesterday. It was a very strange game. I wasn't expecting much since Ottawa has basically owned us all season but after the first period we were up 3-0..then after the second we were up 7-1. I was sick so I couldn't scream which basically sucked since you don't get to see 7 goals very often. Then the 3rd period brought down the mood in the Bell Center and actually made me kind of nervous which isn't all that normal when you're up 6 goals. Sens scored 3 goals in ten minutes and then made it 7-5 with 2 minutes left and I had an overwhelming urge to change the channel since I was to stressed out. Clearly I couldn't. We ended up winning it 7-5 but it was very close. I don't want to face them in the playoffs. Their goal tending blows but their offense is terrifying.

Anyways, I have a lot of homework in the next few days. Not much planned for this weekend. I'm having Mel & Laura over for the game and some mini muffins(PARTAYYY) on Saturday so that should be good times, especially since it's against the Leafs.

SHIT

The Montreal Canadiens received some bad news Saturday when they learned that defenceman Mike Komisarek will miss the next three weeks with a lower-body injury.

The injury will keep the 26-year old blueliner out of the Habs lineup for the remainder of the regular season and possibly the beginning of the playoffs.

Komisarek suffered the injury in the first period of Thursday's victory over the Boston Bruins and did not return.

Stupid fucking Bruin goons. We've been so lucky all season to not have any injuries and this happens...against Boston obviously. I'm worried about tonight. I'm scared if they're losing they may take some cheap shots at someone like Kovy who basically undressed their D last game.
SHIT

I think I'm having trouble enjoying games as much as I used to JUST because nothing will ever compare to that Rangers/Habs game I went to in February. I find it hard to believe that I will ever see a game that will be more fun or more intense then that one. I'd still live at the Bell Center though and that's where I'm the happiest but I'm just saying. Last night was a bust though. No one was in a particularly good mood for some reason and the people in our section did not help. The guy directly in front of me spent the ENTIRE game bashing Higgins. Ryder could miss an open net but he'd criticize Higgins pass that led Ryder to miss. Higs scored the first goal♥ and then he missed a second goal and the guy's like "HOW DID YOU MISS THAT?! THAT'S HOW YOU GET GOALS HIGGINS. WHY ARE YOU IN THE LINEUP". That wasn't even the worst though. Halak left in a soft 2nd goal and the guy goes "IS THAT HUET OUT THERE?!". I had to hold back SO bad from just knocking him in the back of the head. I now understand why guys fight with each other.

Then this girl and this guy just randomly hooked up in front of us and started making out hardcore. I was honestly gagging. Not to mention the game was boring as all hell. The only good part was when they had the Ask a Habs segment and the question was "Who would you not want as a room mate" and Begin said "Latendresse because last year I woke up and he was talking in his sleep and his hand was on my thigh" and I just about died. So we ended up losing in a shootout 4-3. Meh.

ANDDDDDDDDDDDDDD WE WON THE MONTREAL SECTION OF MEDIA IDOL!!!! Meaning we got 1000$ for Dans La Rue and Phil is going to Toronto in the summer to compete for the actual Media Idol haha.

Okay I'm starting to feel the effects of all these early mornings. It was bound to happen. This morning I woke up at 7:30am to go to school and pick something up and then Laura and I caught an 8:30 bus downtown for the Habs practice. There was barely anyone there it was great. The guys basically smiled the entire practice and it was great to see the team chemistry. Best part of the entire practice was when Latendresse and Koivu were going to the net and Lats got the puck from Koivu and Saku wiped out and lay sprawled on the ice. Everyone on the team and in the stands were laughing. They were all cheering each other on during drills. Then these ANNOYING girls showed up and sat in back of us and thought they were at a game or something because they started with these "GO HABS GO" chants and a "GUI GUI GUI" one when Carbo skated by. Worst was when they started the "SEXY KOVY" chants. Then we stepped outside for autographs and pictures and I have to say that Streit is one of the nicest guys on the team. He's always smiling and he's so great with the fans. Kosto was also super friendly. There wasn't very many people there so basically all the guys stopped for autographs but seeing as how I didn't have much to get signed I just stood off to the side and watched.

Then Laura and I headed to Tim Hortons and back to the arena at 1:00 for the St Louis practice. It was the first time I'd ever seen another team practice. I definitely saw a difference with how their players interacted with each other compared to ours. Their practice wasn't nearly as fun and there was A LOT of vulgarity among the players. The coaches were a lot angrier too haha. It was neat to see Kariya, Boyes & Mcdonald though. I still can't get over how ridiculously TINY Manny Legace is. He's like half the size of Price. A lot of the St Louis players were tiny though, they made our team look big which is pretty unreal. After practice we waited outside with Alex so she could get her picture with Manny Legace. She ended up getting it and he even apologized to her for smelling badly. The smells weren't bad today..until I got a HUGE gust from a passing player and almost passed out. I can only imagine what their bus smells like.

Now I have to try and finish a paper and study for my Elements exam on Wednesday. Then I'm off to babysit and try and get some money saved up. Habs vs Blues with the guys tomorrow!
